I just wanted to take the time to say thank you for visiting my site. I thought that I might talk a little about why I do what I do. I like to draw, and I always have. But I haven’t lifted a pencil for anything in the last few years. As life began to pass with the years, I felt I had lost touch with a little piece of myself. I will admit that I by no means am the best at drawing or anything art-related really, but I do have a spark of creativity in me and the need to create things. So, for me, my best outlet is drawing. I like to do my drawing late at night when my day is over, and I can relax and enjoy some quiet time. For me, it’s a means of self-care. I talk to myself through the lines in my drawings, and I get in touch with my inner self. I also like the idea of creating something that I can share with the world. So I came up with the idea to create a coloring book, and “Puppies and Patterns: a Whimsical Adult Coloring Book” was born. This coloring book is my first attempt at creating something great. I have spent over 600 hours creating this book. I am hooked, and I have the fire inside me to keep creating more books well into the future.
I like the idea of a coloring book because it brings together for me the love of beauty that is found in the lines themselves and the idea of a promise waiting to be fulfilled. Which is what a coloring book is. The empty coloring book is only half of itself. As I create each page, the pages start to talk to me, and I hope they speak to you, too. It’s as if little quiet stories start to unfold. No page is done with any story in mind; the patterns that develop tend to feel that way to me. I want the pages to be dynamic and interesting; I am trying my hardest to avoid deadlines or empty pages. I want my followers to enjoy each page. I hope this is true for you as you color along. I see the lines and the drawings themselves as only half of the story; each page is awaiting its color. So that’s why I decided it would be nice to also, alongside the coloring book that I would, create a video series with me coloring in my drawings.
I think part of the reason that coloring books are so popular today is that our lives are so full of demands, that everything has to be done in a specific way or at a specific time or whatever pressure is being placed on us by someone else. That is not true for coloring, there is no right or wrong, there is no time limit, and there is only freedom in whatever you choose for your color choices.
